Andhra Pradesh Approves ₹24,276 Crore Infrastructure Projects


The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has approved significant infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the state’s capital region with cutting-edge facilities and robust infrastructure. The total investment for these initiatives stands at ₹24,276 crore, encompassing major developments such as legislative, judicial, and administrative buildings, as well as extensive road infrastructure.


Key Projects Approved

1. Legislative Assembly

  • Location: Amaravati, spread across 103 acres.
  • Investment: ₹765 crore.
  • Features:
    • A 250-meter-high tower accessible to visitors when the Assembly is not in session.
    • Total area of 11.22 lakh square feet.
    • Modern architecture blending utility with iconic design.

2. High Court

  • Location: 42 acres designated for the judicial complex.
  • Budget: ₹1,049 crore.
  • Specifications:
    • 55-meter-high structure with seven floors.
    • Covers a total area of 20.32 lakh square feet.
    • Designed to facilitate efficient judicial operations and accommodate future needs.

3. Iconic Towers

  • Total Cost: ₹4,688 crore.
  • Scope: Five towers with a combined area of 68,88,064 square feet.
  • Key Tower:
    • GAD Tower with 47 floors, covering 17,03,433 square feet.
    • Will house offices for Ministers, Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and staff, centralizing administrative operations.

4. Land Pooling Scheme Roads

  • Length: 579.5 km of road infrastructure.
  • Expenditure: ₹9,699 crore.
  • Integrated Features:
    • Sewage and drinking water pipelines.
    • Stormwater drainage systems.
    • Electrical and telecom cabling for future-ready connectivity.

Cost Escalation Challenges

Minister P. Narayana highlighted the rising costs of construction, attributing the surge to inflation and increasing demands for advanced infrastructure:

  • Government buildings: Up by 49.02% since 2017-18.
  • Iconic towers: Costs increased by 41%.
  • Flood canals: Costs escalated by 39%.
  • LPS roadworks: Experienced a rise of 28%-35%.
