A New Era in Aerospace Manufacturing
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the C-295 facility exemplifies India’s commitment to becoming a trusted partner in global aerospace manufacturing. “Make in India, Make for the World,” he stated, reinforcing the vision for self-reliance in defense production.
Transforming India’s Defense Landscape
PM Modi highlighted the rapid progress of India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem, noting that the establishment of this facility is a testament to the country’s new work culture and efficient execution of projects. He reminisced about the foundation stone laying ceremony in October 2022 and praised the swift development of the C-295 assembly line, which is now poised to produce aircraft for both domestic use and export.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the historical context of India’s defense sector, stating that a decade ago, the focus was primarily on imports. Today, due to strategic government initiatives, India is poised to emerge as a significant player in defense manufacturing.
Economic Impact and Job Creation
The C-295 aircraft factory is set to create thousands of jobs and support the indigenous manufacturing of 18,000 aircraft parts. This initiative provides vast opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India, enhancing the local supply chain and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
A Vision for the Future of Aviation
PM Modi shared his broader vision for India’s aviation sector, noting the country’s ambition to become a hub for aviation and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. He highlighted the recent orders for 1,200 new aircraft by Indian airlines, indicating that the new facility will play a crucial role in meeting both national and global aviation demands.
Cultural and Economic Ties Between India and Spain
